Hello! I hope that you had a great weekend. Our exciting news was that Millie rolled over for the first time :) We have some busy things happening in our classroom this week. We are preparing for our poetry cafe on Friday and looking forward to our field trip at the PAC on Thursday.
Word Study: Try searching from them in your books! Write them in the snow!
1st: after, big, who, been
K: all, too, they, will
Writing: We are preparing for our poetry celebration on Friday! We hope that you will be able to attend. Tomorrow our third grade buddies are going to help us type a few of our poems.
Reading: This week we are working on performing our books. We will think about what our characters sound like and what gestures they might be making. It is fun to make our books come alive!
Kindergarten Math: We are creating story problems and building equations to match. We will notice that the total does not always need to come at the end when writing an addition equation.
First Grade Math: We are beginning a new unit on data. We will use words like more and fewer and begin to make comparisons. At home you can ask questions like "How many more carrots do you have on your plate than I do?" This comparison work can be tricky to understand so we will be creating a lot of hands on situations.
Researchers Workshop: First graders are asking questions about the sky and beginning some research. The kindergartners are continuing to learn about weather with the other kindergarten classrooms.
Upcoming Events:
February 27: PAC Field Trip
February 28: Poetry Celebration at 11:00 a.m. and Early Dismissal at 11:30
